Free moodboard makers with no signup (and which ones need an account)

"Free" usually means "free after you create an account". If you just want to drop a dozen images on a canvas and export it, that wall matters. Here are eight moodboard tools with a genuinely usable free tier, ordered by how little they ask of you first. We make one of them, so we have tried to be fair; every claim was checked on the official pages in September 2026.

No account needed to start

  1. PasteCollage. Paste an image address or drag an image from another browser tab, arrange, export a PNG or PDF. No signup, no watermark. A free account adds up to 5 saved boards and daily quotas for background removal and AI images. The honest caveat: it's one canvas, not a workspace, and text is basic. Open the moodboard maker.
  2. PhotoCollage.com. Completely free with no registration. Built for grids of your own photos rather than free-form boards, with auto-arrange, HD image download, and print ordering. Works from files on your device only; we didn't find a PDF export.
  3. BeFunky. You can edit and build a collage without an account, and BeFunky says saved images carry no watermark, in JPG, PNG or PDF. We couldn't confirm whether the download itself is account-free, so budget for a signup at the last step. Grid-based collages rather than loose boards; the fancier effects need the paid Plus plan.

Free, but you sign up first

  1. FigJam. Figma's whiteboard. The free Starter plan gives you 3 FigJam files, and PNG, JPG and PDF export work on every plan. Drag-and-drop and paste images, draw, comment. The strongest free whiteboard here, if you are happy with three boards.
  2. Weje. An infinite canvas that is entirely free (the makers accept donations). Paste an image URL straight onto the board, embed links, then download to print. Web and Android.
  3. Milanote. The best structured planning tool on this list: notes, links, columns, a web clipper, and exports to single-page PDF, PNG, Word and Markdown. The free plan has unlimited boards but caps at 100 notes, images and links and 10 file uploads. Paid starts at US$9.99 a month billed annually.
  4. Canva. More a design suite than a moodboard tool, but its free plan is generous: 5 GB storage and unwatermarked exports unless you use premium elements. Huge template library. Everything requires an account.
  5. Miro. A team whiteboard. Free lets you keep unlimited boards but edit only your three most recent, and exports are low resolution on the free plan. Great for workshops, less so for a print-ready board.

Collectors, not board makers

Cosmos and Are.na are worth knowing about if you gather inspiration over months. They are for saving and organising references, not for laying out a finished board, and both need an account. Save there, compose the board somewhere on this list.

How to choose

  • You want the board done in the next ten minutes, no account. PasteCollage or, for a photo grid, PhotoCollage.com.
  • You want notes and links alongside the images. Milanote or FigJam.
  • You already live in a design suite. Canva.
